Petra Blackwell is a writer based in the Midwest. While she prefers to remain slightly to the left of any camera lens, she's forcing herself to occupy this space beside her upcoming fictional works in the fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and literary weird genres.
She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in creative writing and a minor in Asian studies. Growing up, she won numerous small writing awards at school and local competitions. Her poems have been published in her local library newsletter and school literary magazines.
Weaving stories since kindergarten, she's completed too many fanfictions, a few novels seen only by friends and family, and many short stories she is very behind on editing. A moment of silence for the many abandoned shiny ideas and unfinished novels.
Knowing her stories will wreak eldritch havoc in the world, she hopes to offset the dread by documenting the triumphs and failures of exploring creative identity, inner revelations, and the challenges of navigating writing and publishing. Lore dives, brain dumps, analysis of books, TV shows, and movies, wandering thoughts, and a community based in writing, creativity, and support to follow.

When avoiding writing, Petra loves playing games on her PS5 and Switch, annoying her Pekingnese, reading too many books at once, using too many notebooks, building mechanical keyboards and Legos, lifting weights, walking in nature, basking in thunderstorms, and thrifting clothes.
